African Community School is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization based in Minneapolis. The main objective of
African Community School is to offer after school programs for middle and high school students, college readiness classes, English language learning courses, career counseling sessions, and connect African immigrants to educational and employment resources. In addition, this center will create opportunities for African professionals in the State in order to contribute their times, expertise, and talents to assist parents and youth in the community.
ACS is governed by a board of directors. As owners of the mission of the organization, this body will provide overall leadership, oversight, and guidance to the organization. The board is also responsible for the overall business operations and policy making decisions. Most ACS board members have at least ten years of experience in the field of education. These members also possess an intimate understanding and deep knowledge in needs of the population served.
